It’s Friday! So that means Fit Friday!
Oftentimes we runners have our long runs planned for the weekend, especially when we are training for a race. But what do you do if you’re not training for a race (gasp!)? Try getting some friends together to do something a little different!
While I’m still training, I am in taper mode and some of my closest running friends just ran the Napa Valley Marathon last weekend. (They rocked it by the way!) So on Sunday we are doing something run and running the Nike Women 10k. The idea is that you pay an entry fee that gets you a shirt. You log your 6.2 miles on a Nike+ device (phone, ipod, watch, etc.). And a portion of the entry fee goes to Nike’s charity: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Here’s the design on the shirt, I think it’s pretty sweet!
Since I’m tapering and they are recovering, we will take our run easy. We are starting from of the runner’s home and then finishing at one of our favorite places to eat, The Picnic Basket. (A little reward is never a bad thing… as long as you don’t overdo it!)
So what fun plans do you have to keep yourself motivated this weekend? Are you running the Nike 10k too?

running in The Lucky Run Half Marathon tomorrow … but going very easy since it is taper week for the LA Marathon
